Constitution 101. "No Soldier shall, in time of peace be quartered in any house, without the consent of the Owner, nor in time of war, but in a manner to be prescribed by law."

Constitution 101.
"No Soldier shall, in time of peace be quartered in any house, without the consent of the Owner, nor in time of war, but in a manner to be prescribed by law."

Why was this seen as a major problem? Surely any of us would give a room and a meal to a Marine or a Sailor going off to the wars?
The problem is the fact that people were NOT asked by the Government, they were TOLD you will let these people in your home. There are several problems: these troops would be in your home and overhearing what was said...spies..but more there is an old concept in British Law that a person's home is a holy place for their family, their castle, and one of the rights of a free person is that NO one may unlawfully force their way in to that home. The people have the right to decide what is "LAWFUL"
