How to read.

Many people, even some teachers think that they know how to read...they don’t. What many have learned is how to scan. Scanning or speed reading is not bad as a extra skill as it allows you to cover a lot of pages fast, which may be ok for a novel but is not good for a political speech or a history book where every word has meaning, Perhaps the smartest Prof I ever knew, had the habit of keeping note paper in his books and writing down words new to him. He told me of “Course it is better to look the words up at the time, but one may not have a good dictionary to hand and this is far better than remaining ignorant .” He, by the way spoke at least 5 tongues and was a language Professor of the Old School.

That habit will also will lead to careful listening which is a required skill for a voter in a free Republic like ours.

Example? Sure. Vote for me and I will work for a better world. Look at the word “better” what does that pol mean by better? Why what ever you think he means. In other words the pol is saying trust me….

The power of words

 "Words" Part ll

Bob was sitting in Dr.H's office visiting the Wellness Center where Grrr worked.

"Boy, I have long had that feeling that words had power in themselves Doc; but I figured I had been reading too much history.'

"On no my boy" replied the kindly old learned hadrosaur. "It is a very proven concept, Used every day by salebeings, actors, and politicians. You see first they size the mark,if one may use so vulgar a word. Once that is done a skilled being simply closes the deal."

'I would not try to sell one of my Flower's( his younger wife the hippy raptor) books on say world love to you but a book on history of love ? That would be, as you humans say, a snap. A politician, need only the ability to measure his "mark" in his or her case voters and the ability to convince them that the lie is the truth as it gains the goal of office,which will be used for "GOOD" things. He or she must only make the mark believe and he or she is elected.

Think of but 10 words my boy..Freedom..republic..democracy..fairness..love..kind..etc and apply them to any argument, no matter if they fit or not. Done with skill and you will win every time. The other being wont know why but he or she will end Thanking you."

Talking about the value of words

 Words have emotional appeal. My dear Bob. said Dr. H, the Hadrosaur(duckbill who is Grrr's boss at the wellness center and Who married Flower the hippy raptor.) Perhaps Grrr being a former actor, has a better hummi if I may say ,grasp, of that fact? Thus the "Timmy" name.

"I had not looked at it in that light" replied Bob.

"Oh yes. It is a well known concept in our field and also alas well known to sales people and politicians.

You see Bob, some words bypass, if I may put it so crudely, the reasoning part of a being's mind and appeal to feeling. Take  the word "democracy"  or "freedom"; beings hear it and it gives them a nice warm feeling. Many  unethical  beings have ridden it to wealth and power. Grrr being an actor, is very uh....learned in it..basic tool of his, former trade as it where. Not that I would have you think that my colleague and brother in law is unethical, but...he  can be a bit of a scamp."
