A path to citizenship

a path to citizenship

My Plan
I favor a path to citizenship as the best thing
A. Secure the border.
B. if the illegal is working.not on welfare and has no record. they get a month to sign up, if they have family and they, the family, are not employed but YOU( the candidate) will sponsor them, old folks, wife at home etc..they are covered. BUT they must also pass step E.
C. Anyone found working without the card after the month is deported and the people employed fined:100 per day for an individual and 1000 a day for a firm with 1 year in jail for the second conviction.
D. The now legal guest worker. must get FULL American rates of pay and benefits, we will have no serf class in this free land.
E.They .must learn English American History. Constitution and renounce all foreign allegiance, pass the citizenship test with in 5 years..Once that is done WELCOME new chum..

The Wolfman's story in the movies and out..

"I was British and Hans  was German. Being gentleman, we defended our nations. As gentlemen, we could and would do nothing else. But ya see the war was over. And as it was as a gentleman that Hans came to my aid.  I was teaching languages at a small college in the States, the pay was $40 a week plus room and board so I was able to send, father would of course only take it as an aid to the family, $ 100 a month home."  "Can't  get a lot a rootbeer with that I think!" put in Grrr. "Recall the times old friend..gold was about $30 an oz it is about $1200 an oz now. So you see it was not a sum to be scoffed. Still there was no pay over the summer and that is where Hans lent a hand. As both visitors to America  and veterans, we had a bit in common and in fact met in a book shop where we were both looking for books on Rom myths. I, for reasons you know, and he for research on a film he had been hired to direct. You see middle European romance  about the Rom was the rage...as I might add were German directors...Indeed poor old Hans had to shave his head and speak mit der  German accent and he  a educated  chap who spoke a perfect King's English. Oh well needs must.
As things turned Hans needed a consultant and I had both knowledge  and experience of the area and people; so he was kind enough to offer me the very princely sum of $ 200 a week for 8 weeks work! We got to the set and things were going well when the star and the makeup man both came down with the Spanish flu that was going around and a regular plague it was. Shooting had to stop yet the equipment rental and the crews had to be paid and Han's pocket was not limitless. So I told him a tale...I was and remain, for reasons you may surmise friend Bob and Grrr, careful who I share my  uh..condition with. I told him that I had learned some Rom acting and makeup and could play the part of a wolf or at least would try. Being desperate, Hans agreed and going into a  private trailer, I turned wolf with my ring on of course. The camera liked it.  The film was finished and a nice profit had by all and so I was in films which is where I met friend Vlad.  Still after about 15 years it got routine both for me and the public. The family was now well off and My good lady Mary, who of course knew of my,,ability, agreed so she and I retired and went back to our studies. Alas, my condition seems to prolong my life but my good Mary did not want to share it and so at a young  78 passed to her fathers.
I became lonesome for old friends and Grrr is one of the few who knows all and accepts and now I have another new friend so here I will bide a time.

The wolfman's story back in old England.

"Of course friend Bob and Grrr, I took it to be superstitious foolishness.  Yet to refuse a gift was to insult the giver. so I took the ring..Later I was very glad of it. That was the last time I would see my Rom for a while. When I returned to base, the Governor .." "Excuse me?" asked Bob. "Brit for the commanding officer" Put in Grrr. Larry nodded at his old T Rex friend and continued" The Gov..ur Commanding Officer, Col. Blave took one look at my blood stained and torn uniform and said ' It is the MO (medical officer) for you my lad.'  The good doctor looked me over and not wanting to open a can of worms, I simply said that I was walking in the woods when a beast attacked. Which as close to the truth as I saw it prudent to tread. Well, he sent me to hospital and as news had come of the German call for peace, it was felt that I may as well be sent home for treatment..fear of rabies you see. In the army when they say you are going, as being a marine Bob you would understand." Bob raised his cup and nodded. "You are going and I just had time to dash off a note to my Rom friends when I found myself on troopship to England. The war ending, I was demobbed and returned to home and books; Well, when I first got home, after perhaps a glass of port too many, I locked myself in the store room and went to the window and saw myself a wolf and to my shock became one. I was still Lawrence, the ring you see, but a wolf. Never one smart enough to leave well enough alone. Next full moon, I again locked myself in, I had had a time lock installed on the door and leaving the RING off,Well it worked after a fashion, I recall little.. a red rage and  the room was torn to bits. Chaps that ring has not left my finger since 1923; a tad of a dreamer I may be but a fool I am not. Alas  the fortune of the family was in sharp decline.  All for England and no regrets of course; but  things did become a bit sticky. Any way the family needing my aid and America being the land of milk and honey, I was off to the colonies. In NY I met a friend Hans Von Mauser who was in the movie business and in need of a person with some knowledge of the Rom." " Excuse me pal but you Brits had just spent four years shooting at guys named Hans, no?"
Larry got a puzzled look on his face. After a minute he said " Oh I see. It was a different world Friend Grrr. I was British and Hans  was German so of course both being gentleman, we defended our nations: as gentlemen, we could and would do nothing else. But ya see the war was over as it was as a gentleman that Hans came to my aid.   To be continued  Image result for picture of a old movie set

The Wolfman's story part VI ...save her or die like a Englishman trying.

"My rifle and revolver had little result so as there was nothing for it. I drew the dagger my men had given me and closed with the brute. I had learned in 3 years of war and Trench raids with fritz's storm troop commandos that one simply closed one's mind and did your best to do the other chap in or he would do for you. The soldier replaced the scholar and it was kill or be be killed. As we met and struggled claw and teeth against blade the fight seemed endless as they all do but it was over very quickly and the brute lay at my feet. The soldier once more in command, I cleaned my blade and  reloaded my revolver and rifle. Where there was one brute, there may well be more. I felt young Ktrenia timidly take my hand and we returned at times she leading me to the Rom  camp.
King Demo was overjoyed at the safe return of his child. But old Slvi in tears said " Sit ..sit my son you are hurt." Now as an Englishman and more as a soldier I have learned that hurts do not matter only duty does. Yet, truth to be told Friend Grrr and Bob, once the shock wore off and the child safe, the pain was great indeed. King Demo himself removed the rags of my shirt  and sam brown belt pointing at my dagger and saying "silver." as the other men nodded. Slvi, as a mother might,  washed my wounds.  A great weakness overcame me and I woke in her wagon.
"My son, you did much for my family yet much to your hurt.." She said.."Nonsense" I replied', "I am  I think a friend and a British officer. A soldier.  That child was at risk. These bites..I have had worse from father's hound."
"No, my son" she said with tears..king Demo nodding in agreement. "That was not a hound or even a wolf you fought but a  Lycoln and now you must be one..but this.." king Demo took a ornate silver ring from an ancient box and she placed it on my hand. "This will offer some help..a lycoln you must be. But, with this,  you can choose when and your mind will remain that of a man"
"Of course friend Bob and Grrr, I took it to be superstitious foolishness.  Yet to refuse a gift was to insult the giver. so I took the ring..Later I was very glad of it...

The Wolfman's story part v "The duty of an Englishman"

But I knew where my duty as an Englishman lay and rushed into the dark woods..."
The moon was full but the woods were still bloody dark and truth to tell I am no woodman.  Still I heard the sound of a Rom girl's voice praying and sobbing and knowing that had to be the lost child. I followed the cries. As I came into the clearing, as I had experienced more than once in three years of war in No man's land of France, my senses became sharp and time seemed to stop. I clearly saw the child clinging to a large cross her family had erected in the clearing and a large brute standing over her. I ordered the brute away in English, Rom and Russian, but to no avail. In fact with a growl it started toward the weeping  Ktrenia. Seeing that it must be done. I raised my rifle and using the british "mad moment" which I had learned so well in the trenches, fired all ten rounds into the brute..as a skilled rifleman which the war had made me I did not miss.  Yet the brute did not drop. Simply slowed.. not having time to reload. I dropped my rifle and drew my .445  revolver and gave the brute six of the best in the face! That also seemed more to annoy than stop it. Nothing for it than, but to abandoned young  Ktrenia and play the coward, a path no Englishman would tread or using all I had left, a dagger my men had given me when I was ordered from my company, save her or die like a man trying...

the Wolfman's story part lV

"When she opened it, her face was a wonder and I do think it was than I was accepted into the tribe as a rom and Slvi saw me for the first time as the son she had lost. Well, the war was changing and Romania looked about to jump in on our side. Of course, They would need arms and supplies and I among others was ordered to go and see what England could do. It was a rum go."                           'Huh?" Asked Bob. " A screw up pal" said Grrr as he took a drink of his rootbeer.
"Too right! Friend Grrr, oh the chaps were brave enough, none finer but with the Revolution starting in Russia well. I wrote my report and was ordered back to base. As soon as I could, I was off to see my Rom friends. Well, what with one thing or another it was evening when I arrived and the camp was in a state of fright and disarray. Upon the ground was bits of blue cloth and a dark stain! I called out in horror and was assured that old Slvi was bruised but that her granddaughter Ktrenia had fled from the  lycoln into the forest. Looking at the bit of cloth and the stain on the ground I said Good lord man she may be at risk. beast or no we must fly to her aid". "No man goes into that forest till the sun is high. I love my child but this is in God's hand." Spoke king Demo. "Not bloody lightly!" I said checking the loads on my .455 webley scott revolver  and  then drawing my .303 SMLE Rifle from my horse and working the bolt." "No..No my son the lycoln..you must not!" called old Slvi. "But I knew where my duty as an Englishman lay and rushed into the dark woods..."

The Wolfman's story part lll

"So I was accepted over time as an odd outlander but as friend and scholar.
They were happy and I think pleased that an outlander and a British officer would wish to learn of them. At that time friends, we British enjoyed a renown  alas long gone.  As duty allowed I spend as much free time as I could in their camp and the "Queen" Slvi, I should say the old queen, as her husband had been killed in a dispute with the Turks and so her son and a new queen rulied. In any case, as the  dowager queen had much free time and I much interest in the history and culture of the Rom,  We spoke much. I think that she, like many older folk, was glad to find a ear to talk about old times with.  I learned of the life of the band and its travels through the Balkans. Partly as a matter of duty, as well as scholarship, I learned much of Johnny Turk and the customs of the region as only a native could know them. The Rom, as a simple matter of survival, must keep their ears and eyes open as you Yanks say. Understand Friend Grrr and Friend Bob that the custom of the Rom is to give a gift to a valued friend. Now of course I could bring food to the dinner or coin or two to the dance. But to offer money to a lady of any age was a blood insult. Yet I felt the need for a gift in return for such trust and friendship. Slvi spoke sadly of a sky blue dress that had been lost when the Turk burned the camp in the fight where her husband was killed. So I spoke with  "King" Demo and he told me that I had his permission to gift such cloth to his mother that she could make a dress. That such, in his eyes,  would be a very acceptable thanks gift. So I asked my lady to send such cloth to me from England, of course telling her why, and being better than I deserve, she sent, not just  the cloth,  but thread and needles. (With a note  saying that only a man would not realize that a lady also needed  not only the cloth but the proper thread and needles. She loved me much and I her.)

When the package arrived, I went to the camp as soon as duty allowed and as custom required handed the package to king Demo, who, as was their way, handed it back to me and nodded that I might present it to Slvi. When she opened it, her face was a wonder and I do think it was than I was accepted into the tribe as a rom and Slvi saw me for the first time as the son she had lost.

The wolfman's story continued

"Well as a lanquist, I fear that I was always more the scholar  than soldier at heart, I followed the music to their camp. Alas, as their experience with armed men in uniform, was not always of the best,  and as a soldier I was both. They were at first, a bit,  shall we say reserved"
"Huh?" asked Grrr. "They got a bad rep pal.  So they dont like anyone that looks like a cop." said Bob.
"There have long been..hum difficulties." Continued Larry. "But as I greeted them in Rom and explained that I was drawn to the music, I was soon made welcome. The good people insisted on sharing what little they had. Food during the war was very hard to come by and I suspect the stew was more horse than cow or lamb but after 3 years at the Front in the Trenches of France, I could eat anything. In fact, I well recall, with fondness, Cpl Jones recipe for Rat Tattar.   Grrr and Bob exchanged looks. "Ah, I well understand friends." said Larry noting  the exchange of looks. "But one simply had to be there. " I guess" said Bob. "Yep" agreed Grrr. "Please continue lar." invited Grrr.
"Duty called, but I returned several times, and since I was both a officer and the agent of Britain, I, of course, had no trouble drawing a supply horse of army rations. Bully beef or Serbian army fare may not seem to inviting today chaps but to my Rom friends it was a feast indeed and a bottle or two of brandy and box of cigars well!  They are proud folks and dont like to accept from a stranger but once I made clear that I had eaten with them and so was but returning the favor and would be offended, as indeed I would have been, had they refused.  All was music and dancing. Some of the Rom  ladies were fair indeed,  but I did have a lady waiting  in England and I mean no offence; but  we took that sort of thing far far more seriously than do people today. So I was accepted over time as as an odd outlander but as friend and scholar."

The Wolfman's story

"I should be most pleased to unfold my story to such friends. But I must warn you chaps, it is not a short account.
"Take ya time pal. It beats running in the heat!" said Grrr.
"Truth" added Bob.
"Well, it was as I recall August 1914. I had just returned home from University where I had read oriental languages and taken a first.."
"Huh?" Asked Grrr.
"Sorta like getting a MA with honors for us pal" explained Bob
"That is correct friend Bob. Well, I had intended to continue my studies. The university of Belgrade and a few years in the Balkans perhaps, but of course with England at war, duty first.  So it was off to London to offer my services. I took a commission in the family regiment and was in France for 3  years when some chap in the war office got around to looking at my papers and putting down his tea said  "Hum.. Fella speaks several languages spoken in the Ottoman Empire. At war with them, useful that."  So orders came down from on high. Now from what friend Grrr has told me I know that both of you are students of history and being a marine  and a teacher Bob, you will perhaps understand when I say that while I have the the normal fears, I did not, after 3 years, want to leave my place. My men had come, after several  years of battle, to depend on me and I on them.  But as my old Sergeant, I think he had been Army since Wellington, told me "Ours is not to reason why sur. Orders wuz orders."   'Of course he was right. So it was off to the Balkans I went. England than, as America does now, supplied allies with money and arms and my duty was to visit with the local army officials Russians, Serbs, Romanian chaps, see who was useful and who was not and arrange supply. So you may well guess that being seen as the doorkeeper to the cornucopia of old England, I was well received. I had an abundance of free time, necessity.  as those Balken chaps move at their own pace. I was riding across the woods one day when I heard the music of the Rom." "Rom?" asked Bob. "Gypsies pal" Explained Grrr. Larry nodded at Grrr and continued. "well as a lanquist, I fear that I was always more the scholar  than soldier at heart, I followed the music to their camp....

How did ya become a wolfman in the movies sir?

It  was HOT. Well in Florida, in August it is expected to be hot.  But THIS was HOT.
Bob and Grrr were sitting around in their running gear on the porch  thinking about PT. Gretta and Stef being ladies and smart had gone to the pool.
"Hot" said Grrr
"yep" said Bob
"Ya think we should go to the pool and join the ladies?" asked Bob.
"Pal think! They told us it was too hot to run but we said we were tough like when we were running  10 miles around Cal State. You wanna admit that we got old?"
"Sorry pal. I dont know what I was saying!" admitted Bob
"That's ok old ape.  Hot." said Grrr
"Yep" Replied Bob.
"Got the coffee and Rootbeer and donuts in the garage" said Bob as he went and carried out a supply.
"That is more like it!" said Grrr as he popped a cold can with his claw.
"Good morning my friends. May I join you?" Larry Talbot called as he stepped on to the porch.
"Of course sir" replied Bob. "Come on up Rover" called Grrr to his old friend.
"Thank you friends. It is indeed warm and I am waiting for the "POD" to come with some things. I happened to see you gentlebeings and as I can see the driveway from here. Well, some friends to talk with is a very fine thing."
"Would you care for a coffee sir and a donut or several?" asked Bob.
"Thank you friend Bob. Please call me Larry all of these sirs seems a bit formal." "Ok, you got it Larry." Replied Bob handing Larry a cup and a plate of donuts.
"Ya know pal I was wondering how you became a wolfman and got into the business, if ya dont mind my asking?" Grrr said
"I should be most pleased to unfold my story to such friends. But I must warn you chaps, it is not a short account.
"Take ya time pal. It beats running in the heat!" said Grrr.
"Truth" added Bob.

The sad faced man ..is discovered!

"Larry, I am glad to see you; but I have to add Bob that Larry does not do his work justice. He is that rare thing in the community of actors  modest. He is a true artist and I learned a lot from watching Larry". Said Grrr.
"Hold on pal.."Larry"  Lawrence...flea collar.. Abbott and Costello. Sir are you the Larry Talbot?"
"See Lar! I told ya the ole ape was not as dumb as he looks. Bob. Meet the one and only  Wolfman!"
"Now now you are too kind Grrr many others have played that part."
"True sir. But none like you...they played werewolves. you sir ..You are the wolfman!!" said an admiring Bob.
"Ya know why he is so good ole ape? Larry indeed lives the role he IS the Wolfman!"  "Now Bob nothing to fear, I have long long since converted to Burger King. But of course if you wish, I will leave?'
"Not at all sir.  In fact the house down the block is for sale / rent. If I can put up with this rotten reptile, an honest wolfman is not a problem. "
"Thank you. The chance to be among friends is a blessing indeed." replied a happy wolfman.
"Hey!   Who ya calling a rotten reptile!" said Grrr as he and Bob to the amusement of Larry began once again to chase each other happily  around the garage.

The tale of the Sad faced man...simply not my calling. Part ll

"But while I have the normal humor and who does not like and respect "Abbott and Costello?"  It was simply not my calling.  So friend Bob, I joined Vlad and Bruce and entered the happy realm of the retired. I did abit of work from time to time and met friend Grrr and the lovely Gretta in my travels and so, wishing again to see old dear faces, here I am and if I may be so bold? I would add blessed in that I have made a new friend."
"Larry, I am glad to see you; but I have to add Bob that Larry does not do his work justice. He is that rare thing in the community of actors  modest. He is a true artist and I learned a lot from watching Larry.

The sad faced man..his past...simply not my calling...

"But I felt the need to see old friends. So I am here in Dinotown."
"Well I don't care why you're here ya ole dog. I am glad to see you." Roared a very happy Grrr.
"Agreed any pal of Grrr's is a pal of mine." said Bob."But if you dont mind my asking?"
"Of course my new friend, you are free to ask..but understand being British, I may not answer!"
"Of course, goes without saying" replied Bob. "I had always heard from the ole reptile, that for an actor almost any part is a "good part" so why so unhappy?"
"My friend..I may call you that?" " I would be honored" replied Bob. "My friend than in most cases that is  true. Once the acting bug bites..But while I have the normal humor and who does not like and respect "Abbott and Costello?"  It was simply not my calling.

The sad faced man...His story

"I have spent so long in Europe that I had forgotten."
Replied Larry. He wearily sank into the offered chair and gratefully drank his coffee.
"So what have ya been doin pal? Long time no see" said Grrr
"Well when the business went the way that it did. It reached a point where I no longer felt that pride in my work which, as you understand, an artist needs.'
" You guys may get it I dont" said Bob
"Pal, an actor lives to perform. Yeah money is nice and rootbeer is not free  but an Actor is an artist or just a bum... a speaker of words. You got to KNOW that your craft is important that you are creating. That is what Larry means."
" Well spoken indeed Grrr old friend. So when that feeling  left the stage became a prison and like anyone in gaol,  I longed to escape and I did.   Of late?  I wander about the lands of the family or do a bit of charity work but I felt the need to see old friends. So I am here in Dinotown.

A political opinion

This is but an opinion as I have no ear in the DNC but judging by history this is what I would do were i the DNC.
A. Keep all dems in the Congress in lockstep
B. Realize that many in the GOP wanted Jeb and are never Trumpers and Use that to political advantage by playing divide and conquer where possible.
C. Use friends in the media.."anonymous" leaks to distract the voters.
D. Knowing that the GOP tends to be nationalistic..wave the Russian flag. Red flag to a bull thing and plant doubt wherever possible. No matter what; attack and keep attacking president Trump...he must not be allowed to be seen as accomplishing anything.
E. Always always always keep the 2018 and 2020 elections in mind..and play defence..run out the clock till 2018. If parts A, B, C. and D. work as they should. Retake the Congress by 2018 and try for the WH in 2020.
That is what I think Chuck and Nancy are doing.
I also think that there are some "progressive" types in the GOP who would smile on this or at least the get Trump part.
Counter point: There are many good folks in the democratic and republican party that want to see Trump and the USA do well and so if this plan fails and the Dems do not retake the Congress in 2018 or worse from their POV fail to take the WH and Congress in 2020. There will be a profound shift in DNC policy if they do not want to go the way of the Wigs. Perhaps a second era of good feeling? Interesting times
